This is a little bit of a ranty post. But it’s short.

I’ve just visited the Vogue Curve website because of reading the following blog post. “My thoughts on the Vogue Italia Plus Sized Cover”

They have a section entitled “Breath-taking curves thanks to a series of beauty products that will suit all sizes but are particularly thought for plus size women.” Are you sitting down?

These beauty products include

  • anti-cellulite cream,
  • body shaping cream
  • Sculpting and Firming cream
  • Inner Thigh and Knee Shaping treatment
  • push up effect breast treatment.

SERIOUSLY??? These magazines are written for women by women. Why do we all hate each other so much? Except we probably don’t. These magazines are written by advertisers who pay the piper and therefore call the tune and it’s in THEIR interests for us to hate our bodies. Also for the price of those goodies you could get a gym membership which would actually, you know, WORK in changing your body shape.

I gave up buying women magazines about a year ago and both my bank balance, my attitude towards my body and my attitude towards other womens bodies has thanked me.

Yes, I am continually surprised they don’t have to prove their claims. We need to stop buying so they stop writing shit.

I hate that we are supposed to abhor what nature has given us too. Erase this, wipe away that. Be ashamed, be very ashamed. All these products telling us we’re not good enough. When actually, we’re all good enough and all wonderful in our own unique ways. Rant away!

  3. […] A bit of a tie here.  Diary of a Newbie StrongWoman raises a valid point about the marginalisation of women.  And A Mummy’s View gets the news she’s been dreading for her daughter, once again, […]
